Select a good spot
Install the camera in a location with an unobstructed view and within Wi-Fi network coverage. The camera can be placed on shelves, other surfaces, or wall-mounted.
Charging the Battery and Solar Power
The camera is powered by a built-in battery that is kept topped up by the solar panel. Route the solar panel cable through the side cable hole and connect it to the camera's Type-C port so the panel can charge the battery during daylight. You can also charge the camera directly using the supplied 5V/1.5A adapter via the Type-C port. See Charge the camera battery for more.
Power On / Off and Network Configuration
- Long press the power button for 3 seconds to power the device on or off.
- Double-click the power button to enter network configuration mode after the prompt tone.
When connecting the camera for the first time, use the App and follow the in-app instructions to configure the camera network.
Set Up with the VicoHome App
Download the app and register
Step 1 Scan the QR code in the instruction manual, or search for "VicoHome" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Step 2 Download and install the app on your smartphone.
Step 3 Open the app and register an account, or log in using a third-party service (e.g., Google, Facebook).
Use your phone's native QR scanner (not third-party apps) when scanning the download QR code.
Pair the camera
Step 1 Tap Add Camera Now in the app and enter the name and password of your Wi-Fi network.
To ensure a longer distance connection, the camera only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. With stronger wall penetration capability, the camera does not support Wi-Fi for enterprise-level authentication. Please ensure the entered Wi-Fi meets the requirements.
Step 2 Tap Continue to generate the QR code for pairing the camera.
Step 3 Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to power on the camera. Position the camera about 20 cm (7 inches) from the QR code on the mobile app. Hold until the camera emits a "Di" sound — the scan was successful and pairing starts.

Step 4 After a short delay, the camera emits a connection success prompt tone. On the app, assign a device name and select its location. Tap Continue to complete the pairing.
For the general pairing flow, see How to add or share a device.
Troubleshooting binding problems
- "Wi-Fi Password Error" — Check whether the Wi-Fi password you entered in the app is correct.
- "Authentication error" — Ensure your Wi-Fi network is not an enterprise-level network, and that the device supports only the network with the security level below WPA-2.
- "Wi-Fi not found" — Check whether you selected the correct Wi-Fi name, place the device near the Wi-Fi router, and ensure the router is powered on. Note that 5 GHz Wi-Fi cannot be detected by the device.
- "Retrieving IP meout" — It shows your router has exceeded its device connection limit. Please remove less frequently used devices from the network, or restart the router to clear unconnected devices. Contact your router administrator if issues persist.
- "Cloud service connection fail" — Check if the router maintains proper external network connectivity. This error commonly indicates either network disconnection, or your router operating as a local area network server. Please confirm internet connectivity is active. Temporarily disable the firewall and reconnect.
Share the Camera
When you need to view the camera with other family members or friends, you can use this function. Only the administrator whose account is bound with the camera for the first time can share and set the device. Other members can only view the live or playbacks of the device.
Step 1 Find the camera you want to share on the app homepage or camera setting page. Find the button and enter the sharing page.
Step 2 Tap Invite — a QR code will be generated for sharing.
Step 3 For the members you need to share with, find Add Friend's Camera on the User page to enter the scanning page. Scan the QR code on your mobile phone, and you will receive the confirmation notification after successful scanning. Sharing completes after your approval.
